How long will I live?? What longevity can I expect in my current form? | |
If you are overweight, your life expectancy will be reduced significantly. The latest research shows that severe obesity can take up to 20 years off your life. Men and women between ages 20 and 30 with a body mass index higher than 45 have the greatest exposure to severe lifespan reduction. Typically young men with a BMI higher than 45 lost an average of between 13 and 20 years. Their female counterparts in the same 20-30 age group can lose between 5 and 20 years. On a recent Oprah Winfrey show, an adult male at the age of 32 weighed over 500 lbs. He did a life expectancy calculation based on his age and weight and found he had 3 years to live. He got an immense shock and lost over 300 lbs in the space of a year. Other factors contribute to your lifestyle and therefore effect your life expectancy. These include smoking and alcohol consumption, environment, travel methods, vitamin intake, exercise and geneaology. If you are already overweight use the life expectancy calculators below.
